Futures Grid FAQ

Users will always encounter various problems and spend a lot of time on searches when using the futures grid. Bitget understands this issue, and we have created a futures grid FAQs to help users solve the problems they may encounter.

Futures grid FAQ

1. I can't create grid trading bots. What went wrong?

You've exceeded the maximum number of bots allowed. All current grid types, including the futures grid, only allow up to 50 bots to be enabled.

Your futures account has insufficient available balance. You cannot use frozen assets to open orders if you have pending orders in your futures account. If this is the issue you're facing, you can cancel your pending futures orders and release frozen assets. Alternatively, you can change the grid parameters. e.g., reducing the number of grids so that the order amount is less than the available balance.

2. Where will my funds be transferred to after I create the bots?

The invested funds will be separated from your trading accounts and used exclusively for grid bots. Users should be aware of the risks of the overall positions in the trading account after funds are transferred out.

3. Which trading pairs are suitable for grid trading bots?

If you are new to trading, select popular trading pairs with high liquidity, like BTC/USDT and ETH/USDT. If you are an experienced trader who knows how grid trading works, you could consider trading pairs with high volatility to earn higher profits. However, do take note that higher returns comes with greater risk.

4. What are the transaction fees for futures grid trading bots?

The transaction fees for grid trading bots are the same as for futures trading. Check the Bitget Fee Schedule for more details.

5. How will my profits be settled if I cancel a grid order?

Your profits will be settled based on the current market price.

6. What is the quote currency and base currency?

The base currency is the first currency in the a trading pair, and the quote currency is the second. The two currencies usually will be separated by a slash, e.g., BTC/USDT. In the BTC/USDT trading pair, BTC is the base currency and USDT is the quote currency. Profits made in the futures grid are based on the quote currency. For example, you will earn USDT with the use of bots for the BTC/USDT futures trading pair.

7. What do the different grid statuses mean?

To be triggered: The grid bot has been created and has yet to be activated.

Operating: The grid bot has been put into operation.

Expired: The grid bot has been stopped.

Cancelled: The grid bot has been manually stopped.

8. Why are there no trades being made even though the bot is still running?

The system will stop bot operations when the market price exceeds the maximum price, or if the market price falls below the minimum price of the price range. If the price continues to run outside the range, the positions held may suffer a floating loss, or even risk liquidation. To minimize risks, you should always set a reasonable stop-loss price when creating bots.

9. Why have my grid trading bots been stopped?

You accidentally cancelled the grid trading order on the futures trading page.

Your take-profit or stop-loss price was triggered due to the market price reaching the set grid price.

The trading pair has been delisted. The system cancelled open orders and stopped the bot.

The maximum order limit has been reached because you placed an order on the futures grid page.

There is insufficient balance in your futures account. The bot failed to place orders and stopped.

10. Why are the bots stopped when I cancel a futures order?

Futures grid orders will also be displayed in Current Orders on the trading page. The bots will be stopped if users accidentally cancel futures grid orders here. You are advised to watch out for the resulting cancelled grids when you go to the futures trading page to cancel an order and switch to the trading pair that you are trading on the grid.

11. Under what circumstances will I fail to sell coins?

When the bots are automatically or manually stopped after the TP/SL price is triggered, the system will start to sell coins at the market price. If the risk control system assesses the selling as risky, the coin sale may fail. It is up to the user to decide if they want to continue selling coins manually.

12. Is it possible for transaction fees to exceed grid profits?

No, it is impossible. Trading bots ensure that orders will only be opened if the profits on the grid are greater than the transaction fees.

13. Will I have greater profits if I have more grids?

No, it won't. Grid profit = Price difference of a single grid × Purchase amount of a single grid × Number of filled sell orders. We can see from the formula that grids will only generate profits when the coin price is within the preset price range. You have to increase the number of transactions and the profit of a single grid at the right price if you want to make more profits. When the total assets are at a certain value, too many grids will reduce the price difference and purchase amount of a single grid, reducing the profits of a single trade. It is crucial to adjust the number of grids to make more profits.

14. Is a larger price range better for profits?

No. Grid profit = Price difference of a single grid × Purchase amount of a single grid × Number of filled sell orders. The trading frequency is reduced if the price range is too large. The setting of the right number of grids and price range can be an art, which you need to explore on your own through practice.

15. What if I run a grid trading bot for three days and see little returns? Should I give up?

Profits will be limited if you run the bot for a limited time. Be patient and wait to see results. You can run the bots for a month to test them and see what results you get. You can also ask other users for advice and tips on how to increase your profits by adjusting certain parameters.

Notes:

Stop-loss: The system will stop bot operations when the market price exceeds the maximum price, or if the market price falls below the minimum price of the price range. If the bot continues to run outside the range, the positions held may suffer a floating loss, or even risk liquidation. You should always set a reasonable stop-loss price when creating bots.

Trading accounts risk warning: The invested funds will be separated from the trading account. Take note of the risk of liquidation caused by changes in asset value in the trading account.

Abnormal event: The futures grid bots will automatically be stopped if a coin experiences an unpredictable or unusual event such as suspension or delisting.

Risk warning: It is recommended that you make informed decisions after carefully reading the description of the Bitget Martingale product in full and making a reasonable assessment of your risk appetite.
