Maintenance margin rates to combat liquidity risks

Bitget will be implementing new maintenance margin rates to reduce futures m arket liquidity risks. If a trader opens a large position, they will have higher maintenance margin requirements and their maximum leverage will be restricted.

In cross-margin mode, the sum of a trader's long and short positions (also known simply as the 'position') will be the benchmark for the trader's new maintenance margin rate and maximum leverage.

Maintenance margin rates range from 0.40% to 49.5%, depending on the size of your positions. When your maintenance margin is less than or equal to your position's maintenance margin rate, your position may be forcibly reduced or liquidated. View more details.

How to calculate your maintenance margin rate

Maintenance margin rate = (initial margin + PnL) ÷ position
